’JUNIPER HOUSE’, NEEMEKÜLA, 2004 (DESIGN PHASE COMPLETE), AREA: 400 m2
For a 5-person family, in a natural northcoast setting, on two levels with sod-roofs. The house’s elongated form turns its back (the north facade) towards the road, thus creating a spacious private wind-protected and sun-filled court between the house and the higher terrain to the south. The second floor steps gingerly onto a hillock, from where there are views in two directions to the sea. The main exterior finishes are mortarless local broken limestone and oak or larch siding, finished with natural oil or a ferrous-oxide mixture. Triple-glazed wood-aluminum windows are chosen for their durability, thermal qualities and low-maintenance.
